About Hair Loss
What causes hair loss?
Hair loss may be temporary or permanent. Temporary hair loss may be caused by:
- Illness
- Stress
- Cancer treatment
- Weight loss
- Iron deficiency
If your hair loss is caused by a medical condition, the hair will usually grow back once you have recovered.
Your hair loss might also be caused by hormonal changes over time, as well as be influenced by genetics—some men are genetically more likely to go bald at a younger age, and hereditary hair loss is the most common cause of baldness.
Should I talk to my GP about hair loss?
Your GP should be able to tell you what is causing your hair loss, if you are unsure. This will help you to determine what kind of treatment, if any, is right for you.
You are most likely to require an appointment with a GP if:
- Your hair loss is very sudden
- Your hair falls out in clumps, or you develop bald patches
- Your hair itches and burns
- You’re worried about your hair loss for any other reasons
Do I need a prescription for hair loss medications?
Not all, but some. You will need a prescription for our hair loss tablets and capsules due to finasteride and dutasteride being controlled drugs, but topical solutions such as Regaine, which contains minoxidil, don’t require a prescription.
Will my hair fall out again if I stop taking hair loss medication?
Yes. If you have permanent hair loss from male pattern baldness due to ageing or genetics, and you’ve grown your hair back through treatment, you will most likely lose that hair again if you stop taking your treatment.
Is it safe to order hair loss medication online?
It’s completely safe! All the medications and treatments we stock are approved for use and are 100% safe. We are a regulated and registered pharmacy run by qualified pharmacists and our prescriptions are issued by qualified GPs.
