What is Tadalafil?

Tadalafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It works by relaxing the muscles in the lungs and widening the blood vessels, which allows more blood to flow through them. This helps to improve symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension and sexual function in men. Tadalafil is available as a tablet or an oral suspension.

How Does Tadalafil Work?

Tadalafil belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, which work by relaxing muscles in the penis and increasing blood flow. It contains the active ingredient tadalafil citrate which when absorbed into the bloodstream, it travels to your penis, where it helps increase blood flow. This increased blood flow causes an erection. Tadalafil also relaxes the muscles in the pulmonary arteries, which can help improve blood flow in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension. It also works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder, which can help improve urine flow in men with benign hyperplasia.
