What Is Vardenafil?

Vardenafil is a relatively new drug available for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) and impotence. The drug is a generic version of Levitra. The difference between Vardenafil and Viagra is its ability to cause an erection to last longer, above 5 hours.

How Does Vardenafil Treat Erectile Dysfunction?

Vardenafil relaxes and widens the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to circulate. The pumped blood will enable men to gain a healthy erection that lasts long enough to enjoy fulfilling sex lives.

Vardenafil Warnings

Vardenafil should not be taken alongside any nitrate medications used to treat angina and heart failure. Avoid Vardenafil if you:
  • Are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Are taking ritonavir or indinavir drugs.
  • Are over 75 years of age and are taking ketoconazole or itraconazole, anti-fungal medicines.
  • Have a severe heart or liver problem.
  • Are undergoing kidney dialysis.
  • Have had a stroke or heart attack.
  • Have or have had low blood pressure.

How to Use Vardenafil

Vardenafil is taken as a tablet and should be taken with water an hour before sex. The recommended dose is 10 mg. However, you should follow your prescription as directed. Avoid food, especially fatty foods, as they reduce the effectiveness of Vardenafil. Limit alcohol intake as well since it may result in drowsiness. Only take one pill within 24 hours and do not combine it with other men's health erectile dysfunction treatment. The effects of Vardenafil may last up to 5 to 6 hours.

Vardenafil ingredients

The ingredients in generic Vardenafil tablets produced by Zentiva are: Active ingredient: Vardenafil (as hydrochloride trihydrate) 5 mg, 10 mg or 20 mg. The inactive ingredients are (Tablet core): Cellulose, microcrystalline; Silica colloidal anhydrous; Crospovidone (type A); Stearic acid. (Tablet coating): Hypromellose; Macrogol 400; Titanium dioxide (E171); Iron oxide yellow (E172); Iron oxide red (E172).

Side Effects of Vardenafil

Vardenafil is generally more easily tolerated. The side effects, if you get any, may include:
  • Headache
  • dizziness
  • flushing
  • blocked or runny nose
  • indigestion
Very Rare side effects include
  • prolonged erection
  • sleep disorders
  • fast heartbeats
  • skin redness
