Sleep deprivation is one of the most common issues adults face today. More than a third (37%) of Britons said they did not get the right amount of sleep. While you might not be able to control your sleep perfectly, you may be able to deter variables that could interfere with it. These simple tips can help you have a more efficient sleep if you adopt these into your routine.

Better Bedding

When it comes to choosing what your bedding is made from cotton sheets are considered the best choice. This is mainly because they breathe better than silk or polyester, which helps circulate air. This stops you from getting too hot and sweaty when under the sheets. In addition to this cotton is known to be the least irritable on skin, so it won't cause discomfort when moving around in bed

Meal plan

Don’t eat just before going to bed. This is because the later you eat, the more often you’ll be woken up in the middle of the night as food digestion will occur causing you to bloat. If you bloat there could be a build up of stomach acid, it’ll be harder to go back to sleep.

Room made for sleeping

Create and organize your room to make it ideal for sleep. Make it cool, dark and most importantly quiet. Exposure to light will make it more difficult to sleep. Avoid prolonged use of screens in a darkly lit room before bed, such as computer monitors, phones or TV. Consider using earplugs, or other devices to create a suitable sleeping area that works for you.

Calm down

Your body needs time to change its status into one less active in order to sleep. In order to ease this process spend the last hour before bed doing a calm activity such as reading or listening to music. As said before using an electronic device such as a laptop, mobile phone or tablet can make it hard to fall asleep. This is because the type of light from these screens actually makes the brain more active.

Exercise Regularly

activity can help you with going to sleep. This is mainly because it makes you less active and fidgety, as you will be more tired naturally. Try to fit an activity session into your daily routine for an hour or so. It will affect your physical health as well as sleep
